Who We Are
A Thousand Ladders provides Transitional Employment for underserved populations. What is Transitional Employment? Our nonprofit creates small businesses and temporarily staffs them with participants in our program, using work experience as a service delivery system to provide job training, life skills and professional development. We believe Transitional Employment is the best way to prepare underserved populations attempting to re-enter the workforce or enter the workforce for the first time. We help participants find sustainable job placement and receive livable wages, as well as providing wraparound services for up to one year upon completion.
Buy One, Give One
Our business model operates in three tiers: creating jobs, providing services and giving back to those in need. Operating small businesses builds real work experience, while at the same time we ensure participants are taking every opportunity to receive trainings, certifications, life skills and professional development to be successful in the industry. Since every purchase is also a donation to those in need, we use that opportunity to outreach, provide peer support and community engagement. For every participant that climbs a ladder into permanent employment, they also hold that ladder in place for others to climb up, as well.
